I am interested in the interplay between textile construction and the methods, materials and makers involved in their making, from our evolutionary past to the present day. My work develops from research into diverse cultures, and I focus on how the textiles made reflect different aspects of the lives of the makers. Currently, I am trying to create textiles which pertain to my imaginary tribe. Knotting is my chosen process, and I concentrate on the overhand knot as it is universally recognised and has been known from our earliest development.
